Here it is, late April, and we have a semi-nice day. The infamous ice storm has melted and flowers are starting to peek out. Here’s my setup along Guyer Creek, looking south at a huge tree that fell last August. I remember that day well. I’d been on the other side of the creek, doing a rather large painting of the morning sun as it rose over the swamp. I’d gone out there every morning at 9:30 to catch the light. Then one morning — BOOM!!!! — this very tree collapsed not 10 feet away from where I was standing! Here’s the painting:

After months and months of snow (and doing still lifes in the studio), I’m quite happy to be able to get out and do landscapes again. Not a lot of green is showing yet, but things will liven up in a hurry with the Spring rains.
I particularly enjoy painting right around my own property because my cats love to hang around with me. Here’s Picasso. That bridge in the background was what I’d been standing on to paint the fall goldenrods painting.

And here’s Mr. Wonderful:

OK, so here’s the finished painting, 12×16″, oil on wood panel:

GOODNESS! Glad you are OK.
Beautiful place you have!
