Good thing I was in a mad rush to paint this orchid — I’d received it on Thursday and already the blooms are turning brown. I’d painted it, not really thinking about the background. Then I got an inspiration the other day to add a few cats. Over the years I’ve had a Siamese, a black and a red cat, so it’s sort of a “kitty memorial”. My most beloved cat, Picasso, kept a careful eye on the proceedings as I painted:
