Beaver Pond

“Beaver Pond” — plein air field study in oil on wood panel 8×10″ by Margie Guyot

I painted this on one of our last “nice days” last November and then got busy doing other work, so now I’m catching up with posts. Guyer Creek runs through my property and my neighbor’s, emptying into Lake Michigan. Beavers have decided this would be an ideal spot for a dam. I like beavers and I like ponds, but my neighbors and I don’t want a pond on our property. I’m afraid my studio would get flooded. So experts have been called in to deal with the problem.

About a week after I’d done this painting I saw one of the trees had been toppled:

Are the beavers winning? I just snapped this photo today. More trees toppled.

Looks interesting! I’ll have to do another plein air painting. And we’ve been talking about having a “beaver roast” tasting….
