“Bag of Apples”

“Bag of Apples” — oil on canvas 24×30″ by Margie Guyot

At least I’m calling this done. Maybe I’ll touch things up tomorrow — ya never know. When I started this several days ago I wrote that one very important thing I learned – the hard way — was to paint the predominant background color in early. Also the shadow shapes. Let it all dry. (In this case, the background color is white.) Otherwise, it’d be absolutely maddening to come back at the end, trying to paint white around all those red stripes. Having the shadow (and wrinkle) shapes established early on makes things a lot easier, too. Nobody told me this stuff when I was a music major….
