“Cauliflower”

“Cauliflower” — oil on canvas 24×36″ by Margie Guyot

I’d been prowling the farmers’ markets for Indian corn when I happened to see a big crate of cauliflowers. All the leaves had been left on. Quite an amazing sight for someone who’s only seen the carefully-trimmed, plastic-wrapped ones in the grocery stores. They made me gasp. Definitely a sign I had to paint them! I call it the “wow factor”. It applies to landscapes, too.

Good thing I paint fast. Those leaves withered within hours. That’s Mr. Wonderful, by the way, inspecting the situation.

And here’s Picasso, my #1 studio cat, giving me encouragement. That’s his job.

Guess what’s on the menu for the next few days….
