Another gorgeous day here! The clearest blue sky and the temperature finally rose above freezing. I was in the mood for a good challenge (and this was!). Loaded my gear into the wagon and headed into the swamp in back of my studio. When I bought this place back in 2007 it wasn’t a swamp. Most of the trees were ash trees. And they all died from the ash-borer. So it turned into a swamp. I’ve been planting lots of native shrubs and water-loving trees back there — birch, buttonbush, winterberry, tamarack. And if I hadn’t had this raised boardwalk built, I couldn’t get back here at all.
