
This morning was gloomy and chilly, so I stayed in the studio, funk-ifying a painting I’d done of one of my cats. And then the sun came out! Blue skies! It was even “warm-ish”! I ran upstairs and dug out a pair of my tick-proof pants and lugged my painting gear across one of my bridges to set up and paint this beautiful birch tree. A pileated woodpecker was busy chiseling out a nest as I painted. As I was finishing this, clouds blew back in and the wind grew chilly. OK — I’m done with this!

And here’s the little bridge I had built last month. Before I had this, I’d never set foot on that side of the creek. Now I’m discovering all kinds of cool spots to paint!
