Day 3: Begonias and….

I’m surprised this one’s going as fast as it is. I had to get a bit inventive with that cloth. My setup for this is in an unusual place (for me): I have to twist to the right to see what I’m trying to paint. I usually have my subject right in front of me, so this time it was a bit of a struggle. But I liked the way the sunshine hit my setup, so this was the only spot I could set my easel. Painting the leaves is kind of fun. I splotch on the darker color, then wipe off my brush and clean it with turps, then use it to erase the thin “veins” of the leaf. I don’t know how legit this is, but hey — I was a music major, so I’m doing it!

As usual, dear Picasso hung by me all afternoon, giving me licks and encouragement….
