Day 1: Begonias in a Warm Studio

After a few sunny, springlike days, winter has returned like a slap in the face. A poor robin scavenged the few remaining crabapples the greedy squirrels had overlooked on the tree in front of my studio. Crocuses stayed clamped shut. My snowbird friend, Lucy, gave (?) loaned (?) me this beautiful begonia and it is loaded with white blooms. Oh, too beautiful to waste!

I don’t usually set up my easel in this spot, but the light looked good from this angle. When the sun comes out again next week it might drive me berserk, but then I always love a good challenge.

This glass bowl was giving me fits to draw in. Then I got the bright idea to draw in the pears first and then draw the bowl around them. It helped.
