“Zephyr”

“Zephyr” — oil on canvas 36×30″ by Margie Guyot

OK, I’m calling this done. It was a challenge, but I think it turned out pretty well. I pulled out “The Art of Robert Bateman” and studied how he painted a polar bear’s fur to get an idea of how to handle Zephyr’s fur. He’s a golden retriever, but what they call a cream variation. A bit tricky to get the colors — golden, but not that golden. Almost a white. Robert Bateman’s polar bear has a lot of yellowish-golden tinges. Polar bears are not white. Nor is my black & white tuxedo cat, Picasso. Clouds aren’t even white. It’s always a matter of comparing things everybody thinks are white to a sheet of white paper.

And here’s Picasso, where he supervises me painting every day. It looks like he’s thinking Ain’t ya done yet?

There is a problem with my posting on Word Press. I was trying to see the posts of another friend who was using Word Press. I thought I had to create an account. Nothing has worked right since then. .. anyway, I can reply to your message.
