The sun came out for about 15 minutes today and I thought I’d go over to a friend’s getaway on Grand Travese Bay and paint a view of their cottage. I’d wanted to paint it surrounded by snow, since it’s a dark buiilding. But all the snow had melted in their yard! Alas, I grabbed my gear and walked down to the lake. Voila!

But wait! There’s MORE! The most interesting view (to me, anyway) was looking directly west, out over Grand Traverse Bay. Big clouds were rolling over, occasionally dropping snowflakes on me. I loved the view! But it was a real challenge to paint — the clouds were constantly changing and moving. I painted as fast as I possibly could. I was bound and determined to try and paint it, though. It was a balmy 34 degrees and only a light breeze. Usually I feel like a frozen popsicle after painting down at the lake.
