“Cat and Yellow Roses”

“Cat and Yellow Roses” — oil on canvas 30 x 24″ by Margie Guyot

Yes, that’s my darling boy, Picasso. I was in the mood to try something challenging and it sure was! I chose that fabric because the designs had elements that echoed the curl of Picasso’s tail and the leaves of the roses. The roses had all wilted and gotten crispy before I could finish painting them, so I had to use my imagination. The first time I ever painted rose leaves, I thought it was torture; now I don’t mind at all. They hold still — which is better than most other things.

In case you missed it, Picasso was a tiny baby when I picked him up from the middle of the road about 14 years ago. He’s grown up to be the smartest, most loyal cat ever. And still going strong!
