
The great wildlife painter, Robert Bateman, told our class to “Never be afraid to experiment. If you have a painting you’re not quite satisfied with, try something — if you ruin it, you’ll only have ruined a painting you didn’t like that much anyway.” I wasn’t unhappy with this one, but I’ve never put in so much detail before. I thought it might look good when it’s finished. Pretty much snowed in around here anyway, so why not devote a day or two to details? I still need to paint in the rose stems, leaves and vases. And Picasso’s whiskers…..
