Day 1: Another Cat…

We’re in the midst of a blizzard this weekend, so a warm studio was a good thing to have. I’d bought these roses on Tuesday and figured I’d better hurry up and do something with them. I found a photo of Picasso that I liked and this time I took more care in drawing him in. Then I toned the canvas a soft yellow. I learned years ago it’s far easier to tone the basic background color in, rather than trying to paint it in around all the details later. Then I put blobs of a golden color in spots where I thought roses would look good. We’ll add more details tomorrow. I’ll probably have to use my imagination about painting roses that still look alive & fresh….
