Another dark, cloudy day here — but at least it wasn’t raining or snowing. Actually, it was kind of warm: about 47 here in Eastport. I had this burning lust in my heart (!) to paint something — oh, but what? On top of it, I just wanted to stay home. I’m a homebody. Was there anything at all amazing here? When I went out out to feed the possums, I stopped to look around in the apple orchard. Ah– the trees! So bizarre! Abstract, yet realistic. Can’t beat that combination! I dragged my gear out to give it a try. Drawing it in was a bit of a challenge, but challenges are what make the world go round. I get bored easily.
What to do once I got the tree branches drawn in? I figured it would probably be a good idea to paint in the sky next. I needed a kind of easy break.

After I had the sky painted in, I put in the dark background of the trees on the hillside. Finally there was nothing left to do but fill in the actual trees & twigs. Piece of cake!
Here’s my setup — and there’s my dear cat, Picasso, checking out the situation:

Turns out Picasso wasn’t the only one watching me:
