Cornfield — December

“Cornfield — December” –– plein air field study in oil on wood panel 8×16″ by Margie Guyot

Here’s another one I did the other day. This is along Bennett Hill Road, east of Farrel Road. We’d had quite a wet Fall season and some of the farmers couldn’t harvest their corn. Sometimes they have to wait until the ground freezes before they can get the heavy equipment out there. I brazenly (!) set up my easel in this field and painted as quickly as possible. I thought for sure the farmer could show up, madder than hell at me for trespassing — it has happened! But nobody came — thank goodness.

Here’s my setup. And yes, it was COLD! Later in the studio I added some dark storm clouds to the painting.
