If you’ve been following my blog lately, I’m sure you’re sick and tired of hearing me whining about “days and WEEKS of cloudy skies”. Today was more of the same. I finally reached the point this afternoon where I thought I’d just go bat-shit crazy if I didn’t get out to paint. But, being a Moon-child, I didn’t want to have to GO anywhere. I love staying right here, at home. So I strolled around this afternoon, looking for something to paint. I thought this view of my plum trees might be sort of interesting, composition-wise. And did I mention it’s a tad chilly lately? I got the bright idea of setting up my easel in the doorway of the potting shed. At least I’d be shielded from icy blasts.
My plum trees are bedeviled by black knot, a type of fungus. A horticulturist friend told me to prune back severely, then burn the trimmings. That’s why my trees have an odd, pitiful shape. But I’m hoping for some plums next year.
Here’s my setup:

It’s a darn good thing you can’t smell blogposts! Rabbits have taken up residence underneath the floorboards and have left prodigious amounts of bunny turds. Oy vey!!!! All part of “suffering for art”, I suppose.
