Bone-Chillingly… Bone-Chilling!

“White Pine & Birches” — plein air field study in oil on birch panel 16×8″ by Margie Guyot

Two sunny days lately — a rare treat! But rather chilly. Yes, I’m spoiled. This first painting I set up on the Swamp Path and painted the view. I’d started it yesterday afternoon but had to quit. I was chilled to the bone! Went out and finished it this morning.

Last summer I had this wonderful walkway built out into my swamp. Before this, it was impossible to get out there. Super-mucky ground and some kind of wild grass that grows about 8′ high! And angry hornets! I ran into a nest of those once and got a bunch of stings. So this path is fabulous! Here’s my setup:

I don’t know what got into me today, but I just had to get out and do another painting. This one is over on Bennett Road, about 2 miles NE of my house. I could hear a few gunshots — after all, it is deer season.

It was 38 degrees, rather breezy and I was standing in the shade. So I was glad to finish this one! Chilled to the bone. Instead of staying out & painting more, I went straight home and had a hot mug of tea on the porch, sitting in the sun with my favorite cat on my lap. A good way to thaw out! Picasso is my little nurse. And here’s my setup:
