We finally got our rain today. Just in time for two plein air events! I decided to stay home and start plugging away on a new still life. All the pieces came from China. Drawing obelisks — oy vey! Tomorrow morning I’ll walk in and see what needs to be adjusted. If you look at my easel, you’ll see a couple of my color sample boards. They come in handy for us still life painters. Today I wasted quite a while hunting for Holbein Manganese Blue in my cabinet only to find it sitting on my tabouret. I think the fairies must have put it there.
And here I am, color sample in hand and holding a big screwdriver. A friend came over and snapped this for me. “What are you doing with that screwdriver?” she asked. I’d been using it to pry open a stubborn drawer that held all my blue colors. It began life as a jewelry cabinet and it sticks in this damp weather.
