Shady Spot on Shooks Road

I always gravitate over to Shooks Road — the seasonal road part of it, that is. Impossible to drive on in the winter, as the county doesn’t plow. It’s peaceful and surrounded by maple trees, apple orchards and cornfields. Rarely does any traffic pass while I’m painting. One side of it has the biggest bunch of burdock plants. I shudder when I pass. Years ago I got a clump of burdock stuck in my hair and it took several hours to get each cocklebur out.
