
This area is sometimes called “Michigan’s Riviera”. Lots of parks! Four or five of them within 7 miles of my house, so there’s always someplace beautiful and refreshing to enjoy. Banks Township Park (sorry — no camping) is a delightful little spot to enjoy some peace and quiet. Or to come and paint a picture. I set up my easel in a shady spot and took in the view across Grand Traverse Bay. That’s the Leelanau Peninsula in the distance.

Again, I was lucky enough to find a shady spot to stand in. By the time I finished this painting, the sky had completely clouded over. And here’s my setup:
