In case you’re wondering, yes — I do have more pigs. But these three called to me. I always think of my late friend Hannah when I see the red one. We were browsing in an antique store a few years ago when we found it. Hannah laughed and named him “the Evil Piggie”. I don’t remember where Annie, (the pale pig) came from, but her sweet face reminds me of that kind of friend you can always trust to be there for you. The darkest piggie (as yet unnamed) came from Pine Hill Nursery. I can usually count on finding “something truly odd” there — they aren’t just plants! And lastly — the corn — in reality it was some old, dusty Indian corn. Fortunately I had some paintings of sweet corn (from last year) that I could use for color reference. And, as I always say when I finish a painting: Someday they’ll be fighting over this!
3 piggies + corn. That’s really a nice painting.

I really like this. Thanks for introducing us to your drift of pigs. This makes it more special. I love the choice of flowers and the corn. They make the painting ‘happy.”

Thanks — actually it’s almost like practicing portraiture — I was trying to capture their expressions.

Not until I looked “back a day” did I realize the flowers are part of the table cloth. I’ll continue to look at it as if you scattered flowers around the piggies. π

Some how the piggies have a winsome almost alive look, adorable comes to mind. The background of soft blue, the perfect color with pale soft cream yellow flowers and coordinated corn color.. Your’ right, someday they’ll be fighting over this (I say that to all my paintings)but yours is a woser, a winner, a wonderful work of art. send me a note, whats can I get it for. Would you take any of mine for a down payment? I got a bunch of pics listed under my e mail; jamesgibbons4@gmail.com
