Phoebe the Sheep

“Phoebe” — oil on canvas 24 x 36″ by Margie Guyot

This is Phoebe, a Black-Face Scottish sheep, raised by my friend Rusty. Every spring he lets me come over and see his flock with their new babies. Every sheep has a name and they all come running when he calls. Kind of like dogs!

Some of the babies end up being “bottle babies”. Rusty’s careful to keep an eye on Magnus, the current “king”, as Magnus sometimes will butt visitors.

Just the tip of the iceberg. There are LOTS more sheep than this.
Here’s how it looked the other day. Normally I don’t like working from photos, but it’s hard to get a sheep to pose.
Finished painting yesterday. Let the snow fall! “Phoebe” — oil on canvas 24×36″ by Margie Guyot
