Edge of the Driveway

My setup for “Edge of the Driveway”

Yesterday I finished painting “Christmas Cats” in the studio around 3 PM. I love to celebrate finishing a painting by doing something exhausting, like pulling weeds or shoveling snow. But the snow’s already been shoveled. And phooey on the weeds! I parked my easel just outside the studio building and painted this view of my driveway. The row of European larches have turned a deep caramel color. Their needles will drop in a week or so and everything will turn shades of blah-monochromatic until about next April.

Picasso, my devoted sidekick. Follows me everywhere.

After spending days on a complex still life in the studio, listening to impeachment proceedings on the radio, I’m in the mood to get out and do some quickie plein air landscapes!
